How Aaliyah can help your running.
Give yourself credit -
We took a week off the blog last week after being consistent and posting once a week for quite some time. Im sure nobody noticed ( maybe you did ) but it felt like I had let myself down. So this weeks post is about taking it easy on ourselves and the outrageous expectations that arise from the days of content and the overly polished lifestyles that are shown on socials. Not sure where this will go, however we might just learn something along the way.
Aaliyah -
As the late great singer once said “dust yourself off and try again.” This is perfect. We are all human and get caught up with life and sometimes things simply don’t workout. So this weeks post is our version of dusting off and getting back on track. Nothing good comes from sitting around and not taking action.
Calling it
While I’m almost positive nobody lost sleep over not having an incredible piece of literary content from their favorite coffee shop in the world last week. It’s important to recognize why it didn’t happen, adjust and not overthink what this weeks post needed to be about. I was busy, travelling and it simply wasn’t a priority.
No Failure / Just feedback
This is something that has stuck with me for over a decade. It came from retail sales training but I believe it can be applied to life in general. There is an author named Seth Godin who has wrote a daily blog for something like 5000 days. He always said it doesnt have to be good, just write and the good ones will come out sometime. Same goes for our running journey. It’s unrealistic to think we can show up 100% to every race or session. When things don’t go as planned it’s important to not let it kill your momentum. Sit with it, consider what needs to change and come back stronger.
Influence
We have access to the absolute best in the world at whatever we might be interested in. This can be a tough thing if we start to compare our journey to the fabricated reality of what’s being fed to us.
Think about where you started. The amount of effort you have put in and work towards the best version of yourself. Sure, it’s fine to be motivated to be faster, more fit or whatever but the most important thing is giving ourselves credit for becoming the best versions of ourselves.
Wrap Up
We are back on track. Feels good to have no idea what this was going to be and now it’s something. Hope you can find a takeaway from it. Hope to see you at run club soon inspiring others and being inspired by this incredible community. Keep going towards your outrageous goals and remember to do it for yourself and that magic will sprinkle onto those that need it.
Until next time,
Love ya -
